An exceptional retro cast phenolic bakelite or catalin double inkwell with integrated pen holders, england, mid-1940's. This was part of the carvacraft desk set produced for j.

See internet for further information, comps, etc. Description: wonderful, streamlined art deco form with a wispy flames of butterscotch to amber coloration. Covers slide back to reveal separate wells for red and black ink. These are removable for cleaning, and i believe made from bakelite as well. A wonderful marriage of form and function.

One of the best examples of this large-size carvacraft inkwell i have seen, with superb lines and bold, vibrant color. Condition: slight surface wear noted where the covers slide back to expose the inkwells, a small manufacturing imperfection on one of the covers ("black" side, see close-up, photo #8); the otherwise excellent.

No chips, cracks or repaired damage. Displays brilliantly; this keeper will not disappoint. See photo set for complete details and close-ups.
