1950s Retro Lefton Cocktail Set Pixieware Cherries & Olive Jars W/ Tray #1480. This adorable mid century retro bar set was made in Japan by Lefton and features a cocktail cherries jar, a cocktail olives jar and their original tray which has the recipes for Manhattans and dry martinis.
The set is numbered 1480 and the tray measures 7 3/4" long, 4 3/4" wide. It can be used as an ash tray as well as a tray for the jars. The jars measure 3 1/4" in diameter at their widest point and stand 4" tall. They resemble Holt Howard pixie ware and have stripes coming from the bottom and the names in black. The cherry jar has a figural cherry handle with a stem and the olive jar has a green olive with pimento. Both are anthropomorphic and both are winking. They have spoons attached to the lids for withdrawing the cherries and olives. The set is in very good condition overall with minor flaws. The tray has no chips or cracks and has two very small areas of discoloring. The cherries jar has a single rim flake and the lid with spoon is fine. The olives jar has two rim flakes and the lid with spoon is fine.Neither has any staining and none of the pieces have paint loss or wear. The nature of this set makes it susceptible to damage and it is difficult to find a complete set. Very nice mid century bar set.
