Two prong legs are perfect for smaller tables, while 3 prong legs are great for larger tables. We would generally recommend choosing 3 prong legs if your table top weighs more than 15kg and your legs are 26 inches or taller.
Otherwise the choice is just down to your visual preference! We offer our legs in unfinished/bare steel as well as a variety of colours. We offer satin black and variety of other colour powder coats.
To give you the most choice over the design of your legs, we also offer our legs in a chunky style. Skinny represents classic eames with elegant fluted prongs and a narrow bend radius. Chunky style has a more heavy duty industrial look and feel. Both styles are made from the same 12mm, solid steel bar and are equally as strong. 12mm furniture grade, solid steel bar.

Hairpin legs are considered part of the mid century modern design period (1945 - 1965). Designs from the likes of charles and ray eames (eames era) were simply designed, functional and robust. The style is now very much part of modern design and is used extensively in retro, industrial and modern contemporary furniture. Hairpin legs provide you with the chance to create unique and interesting pieces of furniture. Whether you are attaching them to a modern table top or to an old chest of draws, they will be sure to add a timeless look to any piece.What fixings should i use? For wood we recommend the use of size 12 wood screws or 5mm lag screws.
Try to get at least 15mm of screw thread into your table top for a secure fixing. For thinner table tops down to just under 10mm threaded wood inserts are a good choice. Any thinner than this and you will really need to think about drilling a hole all the way through the table and using a 5 or 6mm nut/bolt.
My table top is very heavy. Which legs should i get?
For dining room tables or desks with a heavy top, we would always reccomend using three prong legs for the added stiffness they provide. As a guide; a top weighing 15kg or more paired with legs of 26 inches or more, we would reccomend the three prong legs. What clear coat do you use? We have spent a long time finding the perfect clear coat for our legs. For us, the aim is to provide robust corrosion protection with as little alteration to the natural steel colour as possible.We achieve this through a mix penetrating oils and drying agents. Much like an oil based paint but without any colour. Our clear coat is almost invisible, will not chip and actively inhibits and kills rust.
