Antique 1940s Realist Illustration Portrait Oil Painting Young Boy Chihuahua Dog.. The artist who executed this circa 1940s Illustrative Oil Painting has signed their initials in the lower right hand corner, C. This original portrait depicts a young boy wearing a bright blue and red plaid shirt. He is holding his cowboy hat by his side, and sitting near his feet is his small Chihuahua Dog. This portrait is so finely executed that it looks photographic and the quality and style is equal to that of Norman Rockwell. Under a blacklight you can see some in-painting around the ears of the boy, and I get the feeling that when the artist presented this portrait to the boy and his family, they asked for him to adjust the size of his ears.There is also some in-painting to the size of the dog's ears, perhaps he was self conscious too! There are guaranteed to be no other problems or restorations to this authentic, circa 1940s, Illustrative Portrait Oil Painting and it comes in the original 19" by 23" painted wood and linen frame.
