Designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman MillerĀ®. T his chair has a stamping of: " 102 " (on the upper back/mid-back/& seat). This is very early in the production of these chairs considering they have been made for approx.. However this chair is damaged. Ottoman is is Very Good Condition & undamaged.

SEE the 2nd & next few pics showing the damage to the Rosewood back piece. Also the (2) aluminum back struts: (1)-strut has stripped out (common problem) (2)-other strut has been repaired by drilling & threading thru the strut so the bolt is visible. This chair is the result of what can happen when you don't replace the shock mounts after a few decades. The adhesive can (& did in this case) release on one side & stay attached on the other side, resulting in a breakage of the plywood back. One night (overnight) they heard a big "POP" & falling to the floor was the back of the chair.

That is the extent of the damage. We are moving out of state now & don't have the time to repair this collector piece.

Looks like there are parts out there that someone could put a genuine piece back together. In continuous production since its introduction in 1956, the Eames Lounge Chair is widely considered one of the most significant designs of the 20th century. It was the culmination of Charles and Ray Eameses' efforts to create a club chair using the molded plywood technology that they pioneered in the'40s.

In Charles Eames' words, the vision was a chair with the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt. This original is an authentic, fully licensed product of Herman MillerĀ®, Inc. A timeless design, it's constructed to last lifetimes: Entirely hand-assembled, most, if not all parts are replaceable by Herman Miller. (except for the Rosewood as the Herman Miller firm decided in 1991 that they would no longer use Rosewood due to the depletion of rainforests).

Chair is part # 670 Rosewood. Ottoman is part # 671 Rosewood. The seat is balanced on a five-star, die-cast aluminum swivel base with height adjustable stainless steel glides. I KNOW THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN THIS CHAIR IN THIS AREA & HAVE THE ABILITY TO MAKE THIS CHAIR WHAT IT ONCE WAS.
