GE AM FM tube vintage bakelite radio old antique mid century retro deco bakelite
The volume control is worn out. It has to be fiddeled with to get good sound. It is either quiet with treble sound or too loud. If it is centered in with some tlc, good sound comes from the radio.
Tuner contact cleaner does not help the control. This radio has had all bad capacitors and resistors replaced.
The original selenium rectifier and filter capacitor can are still being used in the power supply circuit as they appear to be healthy. The plastic dial is a little melted at the top.
The correct 6 watt lamp has been installed to prevent further over heating of the top of the dial. The controls operate very smoothly and as they should. This radio has no cracks or chips in the case. The case is a little dull on the top and the ge logo on the front is worn off.
The tube logo on the bottom is missing the model number. This radio is clean with no corrosion or rust on the chassis. This radio would be great to use as it is or for a repairman to replace the volume control to make it work like new.The power cord and plug are original and in great condition. This is a big bakelite set; the size is appriximately 8" tall, 12" wide and 7 front to back. It weighs around 7 pounds.
This radio has a heavy duty steel chassis and is all made in usa. This old radio looks sharp with great 50's era style.It would look and sound great in any room. As with any antique electronic device, please do not leave this radio plugged in unattended.
