Mid Century 1971 VEGA Pendant Light by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Morup FREE UK P&P

This listing includes FREE UK P&P. This light is a true design classic, the striking hourglass shape is one of Jo Hammerborg's most iconic designs for Fog & Morup and increasingly rare to find. Incredibly stunning, large mid century pendant light fitting which is both an uplighter and a downlighter, with a bulb in both ends.

In a strong spun aluminium coated metal it includes a pull cord on off switch inside the lower dome. A striking example of Danish mid-century design, this one even comes with its original FM branded tag which has the numbers 71 2407 stamped on it. As you can see on the page from the 1968 Fog & Morup catalogue 2407 is the product code, so I think it is safe to assume that 71 refers to the year of this particular light's manufacture. A really wonderful gift for anyone with a flare for Scandinavian decor, and it could also be the ideal prop for a Mid Century period drama.

It will make a striking decorators piece in a stylish contemporary or 20th century inspired room. It is really magical how a statement light like this can transform the whole look of a room.

There are some points to note though: There are a number of light scuffs and small dents on the outside surface, and some of the paint is damaged on the inside (shown in photos). Please remember it is well over 40 years old and has been used in the past. You will need either a professional electrician or a confident DIYer to install and this person will be able to do a simple re-wire if necessary. If you have any concerns about safety you should also get your light PAT tested once installed. It is designed to be used with a European 220/240 volt domestic power circuit, so if you are from a country with 120 volt mains (such as the USA) it will need adapting in any case.
