A superb 1930's Art Deco thick wafer back catalin apple juice mahjong set. Complete set of 148 tiles 144 for play and 4 spare blanks.
All pieces nicely carved with shou characters surrounding the central flower on the one dots and beautifully carved, less frequently found, standing pheasant one bams. Gorgeous, super tactile tiles with thick wafer backs in a fabulous Art Deco black and orange colourway. Tiles in lovely vintage condition and measure 30mm x 22mm x 14mm.
Set complete with a small quantity of bovine bone scoring sticks, a little bone die and a lovely little cherry amber lucite die and a swirled lucite wind disc. B: Black lacquer rack for display only. Exterior of carry carry case showing signs of wear and has taped repairs.
Green linen lined interior of case in good condition as are the green linen lined trays. A rare, desirable and super stylish catalin set perfect for play or display.
