Vintage Crackled Butterscotch Catalin Wafer Back Bakelite Mahjong Mah Jongg Set
Lovely vintage early 20th century crackled catalin green wafer back mahjong set. Complete set of 148 tiles 144 for play and 4 spare blanks. Gorgeous creamy looking butterscotch catalin tiles backed with dark emerald green catalin. Nice carving and colouring to all of the pieces. Set comes with 4 little bone dice in their cricket box, a bright pink celluloid wind disc, a large quantity of bone scoring sticks, a1924 Chad Valley instruction booklet and score card calculator.
Carry case in reasonable condition missing handle. Tiles measure a dinky 29mm x 20mm x 13mm. Tiles in very good vintage condition, many with the desirable age related crazing to both the butterscotch and green catalin. The top and bottom of one blank tile has separated a little but would not detract from play if using a blank (please see photo 9). A lovely tactile catalin set.
