Vintage Retro West German Pottery Fat Lava Handled Vase MID Century Eames Era
VINTAGE RETRO WEST GERMAN POTTERY FAT LAVA HANDLED VASE MID CENTURY EAMES ERA. STUNNING VINTAGE WEST GERMAN POTTERY VASE. Presenting a superb vintage West German pottery vase with an appealing. Clean-lined modernist form and a sensational vibrant chunky fat lava glaze. This beautifully shaped vase has been spectacularly finished with two horizontal bands of vibrant red glaze atop a flat matte cream and brown body. A fabulously thick and chunk dark brown, near black fat lava glaze edges the vibrant red band and forms a bold circular pattern atop the radiant red glaze. The bands of red have an appealing orange skin texture, while the chunky brown fat lava glaze adds a further tactile element to the design. Magnificent random glaze effects are created as the glazes blend and combine. A circular shaped hoop handle connects the shoulder of the vessel with the rim, beautifully unifying the perfectly balanced form.
This superb vase is marked to the base with raised lettering 413-26 W. This fabulous piece is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is a small spot the the inner top rim where the brown glaze has not taken, leaving a small patch of cream showing through (as depicted in the images). This is in the manufacture but mentioned for complete accuracy.
There is some light and fine crazing to the interior, noticeable only on close examination. This piece has been very well cared for and presents spectacularly. This impressive vase stands approx 260mms tall measures 135mms in diameter excluding the handle and 160mms in width including the handle. This exquisite piece would make an outstanding addition to any vintage West German pottery collection!
