1959 Holt Howard Christmas Lady Head Vase, Holly Hair Orig Orn Earrings Necklace

1959 HOLT HOWARD CHRISTMAS LADY HEAD VASE, HOLLY HAIR ORIG ORN EARRINGS NECKLACE. Here is a lovely vintage 1959 holiday lady head vase that is stamped HOLT HOWARD on the underside along with the date.

This piece is especially nice as the cold paint and glaze are not worn (which was usually the red) and as you can see the heart shape mouth is very red with no flaking and the red berries in the textured Holly leaf hair are also good. I have seen many of these missing the original gold mercury glass ball ornament earrings hanging from gold chains but these are still the original ones and one is slightly discolored with age these are not cracked or broken or replaced. The face paint is wonderful with the original white eyelids and petal shaped black loop eyelashes. There are a few dots of green on the forehead when the factory was painting the holly that is under the glaze and the painted Holly leaf pattern on her collar is just great.

I see one tiny pin head flake in the glaze under the right earring that looks like a bubble popped when in the kiln being fired. The interior is a bit dusty as I did not want to scrub this piece and she stands 4" tall at the front center and 4-1/4 inches across from one ear to the other and the opening of the planter which is oval is about 3-1/2 x 3".

The base is about 3-1/4 x 2-3/8. She even still has the removable wired faux pearl necklace and there is still luster in the pearls. Some of the links in the original gold tone earring chains have darkened with age but I did not attempt to clean them due to the fragile glass bulbs. Nice enough to give as a holiday gift add to your Christmas décor or add to your Holt Howard collection. In Western Pa, near the mountains there are many generational homes with tons of vintage & antique items along with baby-boomer items.
