Large-scale original 1964 mid-century abstract by William Westenhaver, founder of the Western International Trading Company (WITCO) and arguably, Washington State's finest artist. Among others: Elvis Presley, Hugh Hefner & Roy Orbison designed entire rooms around his work. Space-aged 1962 Seattle World's Fair Era. Oil or acrylic on canvas, dry mounted on art board (all of which appears to have been done by Westenhaver). Measures about 40" by 33". Needs a few light restorations but overall in excellent condition. We've listed another rare painting (Lonely Island) by Westenhaver (see last pic above) so be sure to check out our other auctions. Do your homework but we can find not even one other example of Westenhaver creating a similar work of Art. And most Westenhaver pieces are not signed or dated, one could surmise he considered.

To be among his finest works? We found these, a few years back, at an antique store just south of his home on Guemes Island. Our hunch is that they were once part of his, or a friend or family members', estate. A five pound sterling silver " Bug Basket " from Buckingham Palace, the most-prized possession of the last reigning monarch of The Kingdom of Hawai'i, an artifact from The White House and Porcellian Club (the birthplace of Facebook), the first man to the moon's 1st appearance in Space and an 1885 New York City "Sitting Bull" Cigar Store Indian are but a few of our most interesting pieces. Presidents, a Prime Minister and other Heads of State, Middle Eastern & European monarchs, museums, Hollywood celebrities, billionaire software & oil tycoons and the World's leading interior decorators & designers.
