Amazing Mid Century Modern Cubist Diptych Oil Painting, Adam & Eve 1960s, WOW
This is a provocative and visually striking Amazing Mid Century Modern Cubist Diptych Oil Painting (2), depicting the Biblical Adam & Eve, in a cubistic and surrealist rendering that is reminiscent of aspects utilized by Pablo Picasso and Alexander Calder. Eve casts a seductive gaze at Adam, while holding the forbidden apple with her outstretched left hand. In contrast, a musclebound and brawny Adam averts her gaze, with a mischievous look in his eyes. Each figure's body is rendered in colorful segments, resembling some sort of science fiction android. These works are both signed: Ditto.
I could not find any information on this artist, but perhaps you know more about them or their work? This work likely dates to the 1960's - 1970's. Each painting is approximately 24 x 36 inches. Good condition for age and storage, with mild scuffing, light dimpling to the canvases, etc.The canvas on the painting of Adam is coming loose at a few places at the edges but is stable and will not loosen further please see photos. These paintings deserve some badass MCM frames to truly exhibit their full potential. They would be the statement piece of any tasteful modern home.
