Antique Vintage Mid Century Modern Brutalist Abstract Metal Wall Sculpture
This is a powerful and intriguing Antique Vintage Mid Century Modern Brutalist Abstract Metal Wall Sculpture, acquired from an affluent old collection in Long Beach, California. This sculpture is comprised of hand hewn and soldered brass and possesses abstract and jagged attributions that I have rarely seen rendered in Brutalist sculpture. This sculpture is akin to a swarm of jagged sea urchins, and is very unusual. This sculpture has an honest patina, with some areas of mild oxidation and weathered patination please see photos. Such a patina is exactly what one would want to see in Brutalist design, and simply adds to its aesthetic prowess.
This piece is unsigned, but such an undertaking must have been the work of a talented sculptor. Perhaps you recognize the artist or their work? Approximately 52 inches wide x 18 inches tall x 3 1/2 inches deep. This work approximately dates to the 1950's - 1960's.
Good condition for age, some lightly bent metal along the edges, and a few old loose or broken soldered connection points that do not affect the structural integrity of this piece in any way. One small piece has broken off, and another is held on by a piece of strong tape. These could be very easily reattached with a few light spot welds.
