Rare and whimsical woman figurine, "Ej Tala" (do not speak) by acclaimed mid-century Swedish ceramic designer Mari Simmulson for Upsala-Ekeby. Stylized head and shoulders of woman with red hair pulled into bun, holding finger to mouth in "shhh" expression.
Glossy glaze, multicolor with black shading. Marked on bottom: UE [Upsala-Ekeby] SWEDEN 4492 and Mari Simmulson's signature mark, "Maris" in oval/teardrop shape. 5" high, 3.5" wide at base, 2.8 deep. Excellent condition, no cracks, chips or repairs.
