Vintage 1960s Ernest Sohn Mid Century Walnut Bookends Pair Copper Enamel. Well crafted pair of walnut bookends featuring enamel over copper plates. Signed with burnishing on the back: "Genuine Walnut Designed by Ernest Sohn". Natural variation in wood tone is present and common when creating from wood slabs. Ernest Sohn came to America in the 1930's and worked for different firms before starting his own in the 1950's.
He designed in ceramics, wood, metal, and glass, and had an amazing career into the 1970's, and a long term marriage until his death in 2007. His wife, Grete, lived to be over 100, just passing away in the summer of 2021.
