Vintage 60s Spherical Metal Shepherd Ball Grill Higgins Mid Century Modern BBQ
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a super cool vintage atomic era BBQ grill designed by Bill Higgins for Shepherd Ball. It has an aluminum hood that raises on a swinging hinged axis to access the open wire charcoal grate.
The grate has four (4) different height positions. The base is sturdy, and is a bright orange color, and there are black wooden bull knobs on the exterior. A rare collector's item that'll make your next barbecue the talk of the neighborhood! 41" tall x 18" wide x 18 deep.The upper grill rack measures 11" deep x 16" wide. The lower round grill rack measures approx. The inside is extremely clean. In all honesty, it doesn't even look as though it was ever used, and if so, perhaps only a few times. The aluminum hood shows a few shallow dents (see arial photo with the lid down - there is a shallow dent on the right side).
Being that the hood is aluminum, it can most likely be finessed back into the shape with little effort. We just chose to leave it as it was acquired. It's really not that bad at all. Aside from that, there is one small speck of orange paint missing on the back side of the ball (again, see photos) - certainly not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination - it's solely being mentioned for accuracy. The black ball handles show some minor paint loss from age. No rust, oxidation, repairs, etc. Displays well, and is ready for a new home! PLEASE NOTE : This item is LARGE.
